With the great rise in expectations of the technical quality of films and incredibly demanding conditions set for movie-makers, there is a need to add an additional stage of development to pre-production. This extra stage - dubbed SUPERPREVIS - will go beyond rough storytelling and technical exercises in camera angles of usual storyboard/previs, and venture into exploring interconnectedness between all additional cinematic components: Concept art, choreography, sound effects, music, etc.
Doing SUPERPREVIS - means creating an actual movie prototype that will take on the ambitious task of emulating the emotional impact of the future film on it’s audiences.
SUPERPREVIS requires more in depth work than an ordinary previs, but it helps reduce expensive storytelling mistakes, correct visual misconceptions and allows full exploration of scenes that demand mastery in film language.
Essential difference between PREVIS and SUPERPREVIS, is that SUPERPREVIS has to have abbility to fully communicate to the audience, which you will know only and only if audience has emotional reaction.
